For atrial fibrillation patients at risk for blood clots blood thinner therapies are often administered to reduce the risk of illness and death. However, in patients who have no risk factors for stroke, the risk of bleeding likely outweighs the benefit of stroke reduction. Often blood thinners are prescribed to many patients with no risk factors for stroke and studies show we need to do better for our patients. Our approach is to control the heart train, and make sure our clients do not have to suffer through blood draws. We also educate them to secure an understanding regarding matters of their heart.
